【開催案内】2026.2.10第2回MDAワークショップ「Interfaces of control theory, biology, and machine learning」

MDA教育プログラムでは、筑波大学の学生・教員と外部研究者との接点を
作ることを目的として、MDAワークショップという企画を開始しました。
本企画は、学外との研究交流を促進するとともに、
学内の分野横断的な学術交流のハブとなることを目指しています。

その第2回企画として、2月10日(火)に、
MDAワークショップ「Interfaces of control theory, biology, and machine learning」
を開催いたします(使用言語は英語です):

この研究会は、制御理論・生物学・機械学習の接点に関心を持つ研究者が集まり、
生命現象を一つのモチーフとして、分野を横断する数理的・概念的枠組みについて
議論することを目的としています。

今回は、ETH ZurichのAnkit Gupta氏を含め、学内外から6名の講演者を迎えております。
ETH Zurichにて Senior Scientist を務める Gupta氏は、
制御理論・生物学・エンジニアリングを融合させた先駆的な研究（Nature等での出版実績あり）において
理論的基盤の構築を主導しており、近年は深層学習に関する研究も展開しています。
生物学を専門としない方のご参加も歓迎しておりますので、ご関心のある方はぜひお越しください。

また、終了後には懇親会（参加費無料）も予定しております(18時より開催予定@3A207)。
今後MDAワークショップを開催していく上で、どのようなテーマが良いか等、
みなさんの意見を伺いたく思いますので、来ていただけると大変助かります。

Hi, this is Yuji Hirono from the Institute of Systems and Information
Engineering.

The MDA Education Program has launched the “MDA Workshop” series to create
opportunities for connection between students and faculty at the
University of Tsukuba and external researchers.

As the second installment of this series, we will host “The 2nd MDA
Workshop: Interfaces of control theory, biology, and machine
learning.”(Please note that the workshop will be conducted in
English.)

This workshop brings together researchers interested in the
intersections of control theory, biology, and machine learning to
discuss cross-disciplinary mathematical and conceptual frameworks
using biological phenomena as a motif.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ankit Gupta from ETH Zurich and five other
speakers from both inside and outside the university. Dr. Gupta serves
as a Senior Scientist at ETH Zurich, where he leads the theoretical
foundations of pioneering research merging control theory, biology,
and engineering (including work published in Nature). Recently, he has
also been actively expanding his research into deep learning. We
warmly welcome participants from outside biology, so please feel free
to join us if you are interested.

About the Social Dinner: We will host a free social dinner after the
workshop (starting at 18:00 in Room 3A207). We welcome not only
workshop attendees but also “hungry” students and colleagues who may
have missed the sessions! We would love to hear your feedback and
ideas on themes for future MDA workshops, so your presence would be
greatly appreciated.
